Russell Fadel – President and General Manager
Russ is the CEO and co-founder of ThingWorx™ and a serial entrepreneur. Prior to ThingWorx, Russ was the CEO and co-founder of Lighthammer Software Development where he was responsible for helping conceptualize and bring to market the world’s first application composition platform targeted at real time manufacturing. Russ successfully established Lighthammer as the recognized market leader in the manufacturing intelligence and application composition markets. Lighthammer was later acquired by SAP AG, the leader in enterprise business software.
Prior to founding Lighthammer, Russ also co-founded two successful companies that design, market, sell and implement manufacturing operations software and hardware.
Russ has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University.
Rick Bullotta – Divisional Vice President, Product Strategy & Technology
Rick is the CTO and co-founder of ThingWorx. Rick was previously CTO at Invensys Wonderware, a leading global provider of manufacturing operations software solutions, and was a vice president with SAP Research in the areas of future manufacturing and the “internet of things”.
Rick was also the CTO and co-founder of Lighthammer Software Development, where he was responsible for conceptualization and development of innovative web-based and service-enabled software products targeted at the manufacturing industry. At Lighthammer, Bullotta identified and created a new market segment for “manufacturing intelligence and integration” software. He has contributed to a number of industry standards efforts and open source software projects.
Rick has been involved in the industrial sector in diverse roles, including factory operations and management, systems integration, sales and marketing, product management, and industrial engineering. He holds a degree in operations research and industrial engineering from Cornell University.
John Richardson – Divisional Vice President
John is the COO and co-founder of ThingWorx. Prior to ThingWorx, John was the CEO and founder of CIMNET Inc., a publicly traded market leader in Manufacturing Execution Software (MES) which was acquired by Invensys Plc in 2007. Previously John was Vice President of Manufacturing Software at Wonderware the market leader in real-time operations management software. At Rockwell International, now Rockwell Automation John was an Industrial Engineer and programmer working on the automation of manufacturing processes
John is responsible for driving ThingWorx sales, operations and growth. With more than 25 years of experience, John demonstrates sustained success at all levels of sales, marketing, business development and corporate management. John is responsible for expanding ThingWorx market share through direct and partner sales engagements globally, as well as overall business development.
John began his professional career in the US Air Force where he proudly served 4 years in aviation for the 1st Fighter Wing Tactical Air Command F-15 program.
Dave Westrom – Senior Vice President, Business Development
Dave is Vice President Business Development of ThingWorx. Prior to ThingWorx, Dave was Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at BL Healthcare where he was responsible for corporate strategy, global sales and marketing. Dave also served as an advisor to the Managing Director and CEO of SoftDEL. Prior to BL Healthcare, Dave was a Global Account Director with SAP Americas. Dave joined SAP as the result of the SAP acquisition of Lighthammer, where he was Vice President of Business Development and Strategic Accounts.
Dave has also successfully held executive level positions in sales and marketing with Invensys, Wonderware, Pavilion Technologies, and ABB. Dave holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland.
Jason Dietrich – Senior Vice President, Global Sales
As Senior Vice President, ThingWorx Global Sales, Mr. Dietrich is responsible for driving the ThingWorx direct and indirect sales channel strategies and overall business development worldwide in conjunction with the PTC sales force. Prior to ThingWorx, Jason was the Vice President of the Operations Execution Business within Invensys Software, where he acted as the P&L leader for this business area including end to end management of product roadmap, product development, sales, marketing, delivery and support for the Wonderware MES & Workflow products. Jason came into Invensys via the acquisition of CIMNET in 2007, where during his 8 year tenure at CIMNET, he had various management positions with his last role being the Chief Operations Officer and Vice President of Sales for the company. He led all MES sales and marketing activities for CIMNET and worked closely with global key accounts.
Mr. Dietrich holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Chemical Engineering both from Lehigh University. He has been an active member of MESA International since 1999 and served on the Board of Directors from 2007-2009.
John Canosa – Chief Strategist, Connected Products
John is the Chief Strategist for Connected Products at ThingWorx. John came to ThingWorx from the Palantiri Systems acquisition, where he was founder and CEO. John has over 30 years of experience in the embedded systems, software and device networking industries.
As manager of the electronics group of the University of Rochester’s Laboratory for Laser Energetics, he was responsible for the development and deployment of what was at the time the largest networked microprocessor control system in the world. In his following years as CTO of Questra Corporation, Mr. Canosa was a main driver in that company’s transition from a traditional consulting firm to a leader in the M2M software space. He has consulted on both the business and technology implications of connected products for many Global 1000 companies.
John has been contributing editor at Embedded Systems Design magazine and and Advisory Board member of the Embedded Systems conference. He was named an “M2M Pioneer” by M2M Magazine for his strategic vision and the advancement of machine-to-machine technology and holds several patents in the area of Internet based device connectivity.
John Schaefer – Senior Vice President, Product Development
John is the Vice President of Product Development for ThingWorx. Prior to joining ThingWorx, John was a Vice President of Solution Management for manufacturing products at SAP. Before moving to solution and product management, John was the manager for the Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and PLM development teams for SAP Labs North America.
John was also the Vice President of Product Development for Lighthammer Software Development, where he was responsible for the development and consulting teams. John has been involved in the conceptualization and development of Internet-based products since the mid-1990s, primarily related to manufacturing industries. Prior to working in product management and product development, John was a consultant and implementation specialist, working with many fortune 500 companies on process automation, MES and supply chain solutions in a variety of industries.
John holds a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a MBA from Villanova University.
Phil Huber – Vice President, User Experience & Mobility
Phil is the Vice President of User Experience and Mobility at ThingWorx. Prior to ThingWorx, Phil has over 25 years working in a wide variety of startups. Phil was a co-founder of Wonderware, still the most widely used HMI throughout the world. Additionally, he co-founded companies in healthcare (Alteer) and iOS applications for e-reading (BeamItDown). All of the companies are renowned for the usability of advanced technology.
Phil has Computer Science degrees from Penn State and Rutgers University.
David Canavan – Vice President, Partner Business Development
Before joining ThingWorx, David Canavan joined Axeda in 2007 and has been responsible for driving Axeda’s strategic alliances and channel sales. David has an extensive and successful background in the software industry that includes over twenty years of experience in leading business development and channel sales initiatives at several high technology organizations.
Prior to joining Axeda, David built and led the successful OEM program for AirTight Networks, a leader in wireless intrusion detection. He has also held a number of executive-level positions at other high technology organizations including, Foundstone, nCipher, and RSA. David was a member of the executive teams when Foundstone was successfully acquired by McAfee, nCipher executed on a very successful initial public offering and RSA Security experienced 300% growth. He began his career with Digital Equipment Corporation.
David holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Operations Management from The Carroll School of Management at Boston College.
Dave Hart – Chief Technology Officer
Dave is the CTO of the ThingWorx IoT segment at PTC, where he is is directly responsible for the ThingWorx engineering teams continued delivery of innovative IoT platform capabilities. Dave is an expert in the IoT space, leading successive generations of remote connectivity platforms and solutions, playing key roles in designing, evangelizing, and realizing innovative connected product solutions.
Dave joined PTC as part of the Axeda acquisition, where as CTO he drove Axeda’s technology and product development teams. Prior to Axeda Dave provided technical leadership and direction for Questra’s Intelligent Device Management platform from product inception through the ultimate acquisition by Axeda. In addition to product development, Dave has developed and led solution architecture, product management, and professional services organizations in ensuring the successful deployment of connected products in the marketplace.
Joe Bartlett – Vice President, Channel Partners
Joe is responsible for the enablement and ongoing relationship management of our major IoT ecosystem go-to-market channel partners including chip manufacturers, solution providers, system integrators and telcos. Joe has more than 20 years of strategic development, channel, sales and marketing management experience across a wide spectrum of the technology industry including enterprise software, mobile devices, OEM hardware and service providers. Prior to ThingWorx, he was at Apple where he managed direct, reseller and carrier channel iOS and Mac OS X enterprise hardware sales. He held a similar role before that at smartphone maker BlackBerry. Previously, he was VP of Marketing at start-up broadband and web hosting provider HarvardNet where he built SMB and enterprise marketing and channel partner programs. Earlier in his career, Joe was a senior market research director at The Yankee Group, a leading technology market strategic advisory firm.
Joe holds a BA in Economics from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and an MBA from Georgetown University McDonough School of Business.
